DBA / Developer

Ubit is looking for DBAs / developers to complete its' team. The candidates will work with a team of developers in a production intensive environment using open-source and in-house developed tools and applications. They will have the opportunity to learn and apply your knowledge of mobile technology, work with a young multicultural team and learn about cellular technology used all around the world. In addition to learning and applying software development process to avoid downtime and improve maintainability.

What we are looking for:

• CS/related degree or equivalent experience.
• Enthusiastic and interested in software development methodologies is a plus.
• Experienced in multiple programming languages, ideally these languages are from various paradigms.
• Strong knowledge of relational database is required.
• Conversational English required.
• Japanese language ability is preferred.
• Other language ability is a plus.
• Professional experience is preferred.
• Database knowledge
  • Clusters
  • Replication
  • Backups and Recovery
  • Optimization

Database specific tasks:

• Recoverability - Creating and testing Backups
• Integrity - Verifying or helping to verify data integrity
• Security - Defining and/or implementing access controls to the data
• Availability - Ensuring maximum uptime
• Performance - Ensuring maximum performance given budgetary constraints
• Development and testing support - Helping programmers and engineers to efficiently utilize the database

Technologies:

• Unix, especially Linux, knowledge required.
• Database design, administration, configuration and usage required.
• Experience with MySQL is preferred.
• DB2, PostgreSQL, . is a plus.
• Object Oriented Programming knowledge required.
• Knowledge of Java/C/C++/Tcl is a plus.
• Knowledge of Ruby is a big plus.
